  3. Poetry of Perception

Poetry of Perception is a body of work that explores how we perceive others and what we believe to be the truth. These works show sections of images with symbols such as status objects, words, social roles, people, emotions… We do not see the whole picture. This is an invitation to think about how we think about others: the narratives we tell ourselves and firmly believe in. How we perceive others has more to do with what we already know than what we see. People are complex, and there are more sides to a person than we can know.

I organize these individual elements together on the basis of a universal story. This allows me to establish a connection and create a new interpretation. When we break up these structures and arrange them in other combinations, we tell ourselves a different story, a different narrative — we are constantly adding new meanings. It is the poetry of our perception to think about what we tell ourselves about others, and to question it.
